THE HISTORY OF DOMAINE « CHÂTEAU DU CREST »

OUR HISTORY

The castle, built in the 13th century, then dismantled because of the endemic struggles between Geneva and Savoy at the end of the 16th century, rose from its ruins in 1624 thanks to the writer Théodore Agrippa d’Aubigné.

The Micheli Family acquired the Domaine in 1637 and has since been pursuing the conservation and development of this beautiful estate.

OUR FAMILY

Josef Meyer, surrounded by his two associates with their respective expertise, has headed the

“Great Family” of the Crest for more than 30 years with confidence, know-how and dynamism.

His daughter, Esther Dos Santos-Meyer, joined the business in 2011, bringing with her years of business management experience.

OUR TEAM Bee

Dominic Walter, an agricultural engineer, has applied his expertise to the agricultural activities of the Domaine for over 15 years.

This knowledgeable team is enhanced by the collaboration of some 20 qualified and experienced staff who work harmoniously in the property’s various fields of activity.

There is a palpable team spirit at the Domaine Château du Crest!

GUEST ROOMS

The Domaine offers 6 guest rooms for a relaxing stay in the heart of the Genevan countryside.

All the rooms are decorated in a “country-chic” style, in harmony with the majestic edifice that is the Château du Crest

Theses spaces, bathed in light and offering great views of the property, let you discover and observe the Domaine du Crest’s activities!

THE VINEYARD

The vineyard covers around 20 hectares. It extends over a generously rich soil, which is conducive to diversification of vine grape varieties! The grapes soak up its subtle flavours, which are then embellished by talented hands and audacious spirits!

The “fruit “of this labour is available for sale in various ranges that have been developed and improved over the years.

THE FARMING

The agricultural sector distinguishes itself in the diversity of its activities: cereals and sugar beet production on more than 200 hectares, retrieval and conversion of green waste, third-party contracts.

The measured farming and wine-growing practises of the Domaine’s team contribute to the preservation of the environment.

CROP COLLECTION CENTRE

At the beginning of the 2000s, the Domaine built some new silos to receive cereals from the Left Bank Region of Geneva!

The collection centre, operating under various labels, including more recently “bio bourgeon”, has seen an increase in its activities over the years.

Its storage capacity is currently of 8,000 tonnes.

OUR PIGS

The golden straw of the Crest is home to over 600 pink snouts. Pampered and then marketed under the “Genève Région Terre Avenir – GRTA” label, they are a delight that will tickle your taste buds!

The Jussy pig is a star in many of the canton’s restaurants.
